خلاصه : The aim of this study is adapting of Care for child development program on the basis of response to intervention approach and evaluate its effectiveness on the developmental skills of children at risk of developmental delay. This research is a mixed method research. The statistical population of the first part of research, i.e., the adaptation of program, includes all documents related to the research topic, including books, scientific and research articles, and the expert’s views. The statistical population of the second part of present research, i.e., its effectiveness of the program, was all children under 3 years old who are at risk of developmental delay and their caregivers (mothers). Before conducting the program, the adaptation of program was done on the basis of response to intervention approach and then adapted program validated by experts. By Purposive sampling, 50 under three year children at risk of developmental delay were randomly assigned into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group's caregivers received the Care for Child Development program based on response to intervention, while the control group was not provided with this intervention.For collecting quantitative and qualitative data, tools including, documents review, interviews, Social-Emotional Assessment/Evaluation Measure, Maternal Caregiving Quality Scale, Age and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) and the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development were used. The results showed: 1) Content analysis method was used in qualitative data analysis and covariance analysis and T test were used in quantitative part. According to the content analysis, five steps including: the analysis of the program and target groups, the determination of the dimensions and components of the new program, the introduction of the new program, the initial assessment and validation, were identified for adaptation. Based on these five steps, the adaptation program was carried out. 2) there is a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in maternal caregiving quality and responsiveness, provision of appropriate activities, predictable programs, and provision of play environment and safe home (P lt;0.05). 3) There is a significant difference between cognitive, communication and socio-emotional skills of children in the experimental and control groups (P lt;0.05). 4) The general pattern of removing ( 80, 15 and 3 percent of participants) was not seen in the intervention levels of the program. 5) The program has the ability to detect developmental delay. At the end of the program, 16% of children at risk of developmental delay were diagnosed with developmental delay.6) The effects of the program were maintained during the follow-up period. Therefore, the Quantitative and qualitative indicators showed that the proposed program poses proper validation features and could be considered as an applicable program in the health programs of Iran.
